You might have heard about the late-season frost that hit us farmers hard across the Northeast in May. Well, it really did a number on our apple orchard and the unexpected cold temperatures during a critical growth stage had a big impact on crops.

Due to this rare event, we won’t be able to offer apple-picking this year. But don’t worry, we’ve still got fresh local apples available for sale, and we’re excited to invite you to our Fall Harvest Celebration, which is happening as planned from September 16th through October 22nd. It’s going to be a blast with our famous corn maze, pumpkin picking, cider pressing, animals, wagon rides, live music, special events, and more.

New York is known for its apples, and we’re not the only ones feeling the effects of that late frost. It’s been a tough year for orchards all around. In fact, our state’s Agriculture Commissioner announced that many counties have been designated as disaster areas due to the frost.

But here at Critz Farms, we’re staying positive. We know that farming comes with its ups and downs, and this is just one of those years. We’re confident that with our orchard’s resilience and our commitment to quality, we’ll be back next year, ready for you to pick apples once more.

In the meantime, we’d like to encourage you to support other u-pick farms that were less affected by the frost. They could use a hand, and you’ll still get to enjoy that cherished apple-picking tradition.

Thank you for being a part of our Critz Farms community, and we look forward to seeing you at our Fall Harvest Celebration!
